With a career that spans over two decades, he has dedicated his life to the care and well-being of animals. Dr. James earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2003, after earning a B.S. in Zoology from the University of Wisconsin. His journey in veterinary medicine took off from there.

After completing his veterinary degree, Dr. James began his career in emergency and critical care.  Surgery was always a passion of his and he had a deep interest in orthopedics and oncology.  He became a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Therapist in 2007 and went on to complete his residency in Small Animal Surgery at the Regional Institute for Veterinary Emergency and Referrals in Chattanooga, Tennessee, between 2011 and 2014. By February 2017, he proudly became a diplomat of the American College of Veterinary Surgeons, specializing in small animal surgery.

Throughout his career, Dr. James has honed a diverse set of skills. He’s not just an experienced surgeon; he’s worked in both bustling referral centers and smaller rural practices, performing everything from soft tissue/oncologic and orthopedic surgeries to critical care medicine. His expertise doesn’t stop there—he’s also adept at managing canine rehabilitation plans, helping clients navigate their pets’ recovery journeys.

Currently, Dr. James serves as a surgeon at multiple surgical centers where he collaborates with teams of specialists across various disciplines, ensuring that pets receive the highest standard of care. He’s not just about the surgery; he’s also deeply involved in client and referral hospital communications, making sure everyone is on the same page when it comes to post-operative care.
